Ben Nevis

Ben Nevis is the highest mountain the UK, standing at 4,412 feet (1,345m).  Each year more than 500,000 people visit Fort William from all over the world to climb up the mountain.  Ben Nevis is just one of many Munros you’ll find in and around Fort William.  ‘The Ben’ as it’s known to the locals, usually appears on most visitors Scottish bucket lists.

Did you know that Ben Nevis was once an active volcano which exploded and collapsed inwards on itself millions of years ago. There is evidence of this explosion at the summit, in the form of light-coloured granite.

It’s not for the faint hearted and is a serious hike that takes on average 7 – 9 hours to complete, although this depends on your fitness level and the weather.  Your legs are definitely likely to be stiff for a few days after, however, there is no better feeling than the accomplishment of scaling such a beast.  On top of this the views that await you at the top.

It also requires some planning and preparation and isn’t something you just decided to climb in your shorts and flip flops.

We offer an early breakfast or a takeaway breakfast option for our guests looking to set off early to climb Ben Nevis.
